Essays combining biblical study, theological reflection, and historical and contemporary analysis in developing an eucharistic understanding of the identity of the Church which point beyond old debates to a rediscovery of the central diaconal dimension of the Eucharist. Such an understanding can advance ecumenical dialogue while enhancing the churches' ability to address together today's urgent challenges. The author is professor of New Testament at the University of Thessaloniki. Joint publication with the World Council of Churches.
